The Rockwell’s collection, exhibitions and annual theme inspire every mural project, connecting art objects to accessible arts experiences. The program extends the arts beyond the Museum walls and into community spaces to inspire, empower, connect and impact people in their day-to-day lives.
The Alley Art Project is a special collaboration between The Rockwell Museum, the High School Learning Center (HSLC) of the Corning-Painted Post Area School District and SUNY Corning Community College (CCC). The holistic program integrates using the arts for exploration and expression without judgment, fostering safe dialogue and developing a stronger sense of self. The annual project supports students through the vigorous process of designing and producing public art while cultivating a sense of belonging in the community. There is emphasis on developing citizenship skills and civic pride by sharing public art with the wider region, all inspired by objects in The Rockwell’s permanent collection.
