Imagine how you leave your mark on the world. Are you silly or serious? Do you love music and dancing? Or is studying science more your style? What makes you unique, and how can you present that in watercolor and contour lines? In this workshop, we will discover how to create portraits inspired the spotlight exhibition, Yousuf Karsh: American Portraits.

While Yousuf Karsh used a camera to portray people, you will use a mirror to capture your image. Use transparent film to develop a rendered self-portrait with simple lines. Then using watercolor, you will paint a background scene to express your identity to your audience. This is your chance to give a splash of color, show your favorite things, represent your wild side or prove you’re a serious individual. You are unique and this is your time to shine!

The Southeast Steuben County Library will provide a green screen photo booth. Bring an item from home that is unique to you and get ready to strike a pose!
