    Monday, November 13, 2017
    1:30 – 3:00 p.m.

This program is offered free of charge for individuals with dementia and their caretakers. Registration for the Meet Me at the Museum programs is strongly encouraged. Please contact the Alzheimer’s Association to register by calling 800.272.3900.

The Rockwell believes in advancing the desire of our founding collectors, Bob and Hertha Rockwell, to make the art collection accessible to as many people as possible. That’s why we’re pleased to once again partner with Corning Museum of Glass for the 2017-2018 year to offer the Meet Me at the Museum program, a collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association. The programs are held on the second Monday of each month from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. at each museum, alternating monthly.

This November, guests attending the Meet Me at the Museum program will be hosted to an afternoon of musing, music, art making and lively discussion. The program will feature The Harmon and Harriet Kelley Collection of African-American Art: Works on Paper, which traces the history of African American art.

    Musician Lou Vogel

Following the gallery talk, participants will be treated to a sampling of live jazz and Spirituals performed by multi-instrumentalist, Lou Vogel.  Participants will “paint the music” by expressing the rhythm and movement of what they hear through their paint brush. The activity is inspired by Sam Middleton’s untitled abstract painting, from the Kelley collection, whose work is deeply inspired by jazz music. The activities will be led by Christina Muscatello from the Memory Maker Project. The afternoon will conclude with light refreshments.
