All day, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
As Upstate New York’s only Smithsonian Affiliate, The Rockwell is proud to once again participate in Museum Day Live – an annual celebration of boundless curiosity hosted by Smithsonian magazine. Participating museums (like The Rockwell!) and cultural institutions across the country provide free entry to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket.
How Museum Day works:
What’s up at The Rockwell:
See the works of more than fifty African-American artists from the late 1800s to the early years of this century. Drawn from one of the most esteemed private collections of works by African-American artists, this special exhibition features over ninety works by such luminaries as Elizabeth Catlett, William H. Johnson, and Charles White.
From Art Hunts to our Family Exploration Studio, The Rockwell is designed to make art accessible to kids, and inspire an appreciation for art at a young age. Kids love our activities, and parents become gallery experts to guide their families through the story of art throughout America. Young museum-goers will adore the opportunity to explore on their own. Ever-changing exhibitions and activities allow families to visit again and again.
