Experience a puppet opera at the Art Lab! Tri-Cities Opera invites you into the rainforest for a production of Papagayo by Edward Barnes, based on the children’s book by Gerald McDermott. Papagayo the noisy parrot spends his days soaring through the skies and playing in the jungle. His raucous cries disturb the sleeping night creatures, who don’t have any interest in Papagayo’s games. But when the ferocious moon-dog appears in the night sky and begins to devour the moon, the terrified night creatures are helpless. Only Papagayo knows how to save the moon, and the night creatures learn that Papagayo is a good friend to have– even if he is a bit noisy! The show is appropriate for children ages 4-12 and their caregivers.

Show 1: 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Show 2: 1 – 1:45 p.m.

This performance is made possible thanks to the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes. KIDS ROCKWELL Family Days are made possible by Toby Wollin and Darryl M. Wood, with support from Chemung Canal Trust Company.
