    Tuesday, May 1, 2018 | Noon – 1 p.m.ARTS Council Corning

This is a presentation of Bare Bones Café, a community-sourced museum experience included with regular Rockwell admission. Refreshments will be available. Full schedule

The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes, led by Casey Winston and poet Michael Czarnecki, present the Transform Words of Hate project. This one-hour, powerful interactive program is meant to take all of the negative and hateful words, speeches, and vitriol against marginalized people and turn them into words of positivity, love, courage, and friendship.

The concept is simple. Hateful words that have been used in the media over the past year will be printed on pieces of paper and spread throughout the gallery space. Poets and visitors are invited to then collect the words and turn them into poetry, stories and art that encourage love, friendship and equality for all. The resulting artworks, poems, and stories will be turned into a hand-bound book.

This unique program will start with a processional from the ARTS Council to The Rockwell, announcing symbolically to the Corning community that hateful words will not be tolerated. Meet at the ARTS Council (79 W. Market Street) to join the parade.
