In February, Executive Director Brian Lee Whisenhunt, will discuss Pieces and Parts: Betye Saar, Whitfield Lovell, Radcliffe Bailey and The Subversive Nature of Collage in American Art.

Collage, photomontage and assemblages are art-making techniques employed by artists using found objects and images from existing material or sources. This meeting will look at recent additions to the Rockwell collection by artists who employ this technique or utilize a collage-style in prints, sculptures and drawings. It will also look at other artists, mostly working outside of the mainstream art world, who utilized collage as a subversive approach to artmaking and conventional aesthetics.

    About Art History Club

Have you ever wished you could join a book club, but for your favorite works of art? Join us this winter for our new Members-only series! Each month we’ll focus on recent acquisitions into The Rockwell collection while discussing key movements of American art history. The series will culminate in a Museum meet-up for participants. Join us for the sessions that fit your schedule, or we’d love to see you at all of them!

This event will be hosted via Zoom. A Zoom link will be included in your confirmation email and will include simple instructions on how to join with your computer, mobile phone or tablet.
